Behind Hai! Japan
Behind Hai! Japan
Why “Hai”?
“Hai” (はい) means “Yes” in Japanese.
It is one of the very first words every Japanese learner comes across—and often, one of the most memorable.
We chose this word because learning a new language should feel simple, positive, and full of small moments of excitement.
At ”Hai! Japan”, we want every learner to remember that feeling—the curiosity, the motivation, and the joy of saying your very first “yes” in a new language.
Our Story
Our journey began in Vancouver, where we first met as English learners. Like many language learners, we struggled with the same questions:
- How can I speak more naturally?
- How can I expand my vocabulary?
- How can I improve my grammar in a real, practical way?
Over time, we realized something important:
Language learning is not just about studying—it’s about exposure, consistency, and real communication.
Both input and output matter. You need to listen, read, speak, and most importantly, actually use the language.
Different Paths, Same Journey
After our time in Vancouver, we took different paths.
Hitomi returned to Japan, while Momo stayed in Vancouver.
Years later, in 2026, our paths crossed again in Europe—this time as language learners once more.
Hitomi started learning Italian.
Momo started learning Spanish.
Starting from zero was not easy. But it reminded us of something we had almost forgotten:
Learning a language is challenging—but it is also deeply enjoyable. And more importantly, it is for everyone.
Why We Built "Hai! Japan"
We created Hai! Japan because we want to share that feeling with others—the sense of progress, discovery, and fulfillment that comes from learning a new language.
Whether you are just starting Japanese or already improving your skills, we are here to support your journey.
We are not just teachers.
We want to learn with you, explore better ways of learning together, and help you find a method that truly fits you.
Because language is not something you memorize.
It is something you express—from your own thoughts, your own voice, and your own heart.
Let’s begin your Japanese journey.
We’re excited to learn with you.
